Dental implants are an ideal way to replace missing teeth. They are essentially a screw that is placed into the bone. We put a cap or crown on top of it, to function like a natural tooth. It’s also possible to place a bridge or denture over implants, depending on how many teeth you have missing. Unlike dentures, implants also do not involve artificial plates in your mouth, and also do not cause shrinkage of the jaw bone and gum like dentures usually do over time.
Every patient and procedure is unique, but there are factors that determine the length of time it takes for the dental implant procedure including:
- Your overall dental health
- The number of teeth, and which teeth are, being replaced
- Whether teeth will need to be extracted and bone grafting performed before the implant procedure
The factors above also determine the number of visits you will make during the treatment.
We are proud to offer patients same day ceramic crowns. We can complete your restoration on-site in a single visit using our state of the art CEREC Omnicam 3D full colour scanner CAD machine. Using the CEREC machine means that you are only in the chair for as little as 45 minutes for the first part. After which, there’s a break while we prepare your new crown. You then return to the dental chair in the surgery and the crown is fitted, cemented and checked for comfort and accuracy of bite in your mouth. All in all, you will only need less than a day to get a durable, natural tooth colour crown done!
Regular, six-month dental visits can save you from future pain, inconvenience and potentially high dental costs. It is important in preventing destructive tooth and gum disease that can lead to tooth and bone loss. A lot of plaque and germs can build up in six months. Both at-home, self dental care as well as regular six-month dental check-ups are needed to best protect your teeth and gums and prevent debilitating disease.
Dental injuries are the most common type of facial injury in sports. A mouthguard can not only save teeth; they help protect the jaw as well. Most people benefit from wearing a mouthguard when playing any sport. The chances of a sports-related injury to the mouth and jaw are minimized by wearing a mouth guard, which best explains why you need one.
Just come in for a quick consultation with our dentist on which mouthguard suits you best!
